Computer Aided Design-CAD is defined the use of information technology (IT) in the Design process. A CAD system consists of IT hardware (H/W), specialized software (S/W) (depending on the particular area of application) and peripherals, which in certain applications are quite specialised. The core of a CAD system is the S/W, which makes use of graphics for product representation; databases for storing the product model and drives the peripherals for product presentation. Its use does not change the nature of the design process but as the name states it aids the product designer. The designer is the main actor in the process, in all phases from problem identification to the implementation phase. The role of the CAD is in aiding him/her by providing:

  • Accurately generated and easily modifiable graphical representation of the product. The user can nearly view the actual product on screen, make any modifications to it, and present his/her ideas on screen without any prototype, especially during the early stages of the design process.
  • Perform complex design analysis in short time. Implementing Finite Elements Analysis methods the user can perform.
  • Static, Dynamic and Natural Frequency analysis, Heat transfer analysis, Plastic analysis, Fluid flow analysis, Motion analysis, Tolerance analysis, Design optimization.
  • Record and recall information with consistency and speed. In particular the use of Product Data Management (PDM) systems can store the whole design and processing history of a certain product, for future reuse and upgrade.

This lack of industry specific training has resulted in a huge gap between the industry and the employees. Industries are finding it difficult to develop employees with the right skill set for scientific, technical and production functions at all levels. Also Universities are not providing the right kind of training to their students to keep up the industry expectation.

Polyskills Institute’s customised industry specific training programmes have a significant role to play in providing training & thereby enabling the supply of highly skilled people to meet demand from businesses both now and in the future.”

Whether it is for an industry or a University, we have an array of industry specific Modular programme, to forge a greater relationship between universities and Industries. It is designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge that engineering sector Industries are looking for.

The Our CAD engineering customised programme is a collaborative initiative between industry and Universities. We can provide tailor made programmes that suits the area of learning to any specific industry. The programme provides an opportunity to develop and train the next generation of engineers and leaders and allow students to become more engaged in the learning process by having hands-on experience.

The programme can also be incorporated to any existing degree programme. In addition to existing academic studies, a student will develop sector specific and company abilities that will help accelerate their career upon graduation.

Our customised training module not only benefits Universities / Industries by producing a stronger talent pool, but also helps incoming talent by equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to secure a high value graduate position with a through industrial exposure.”

The Industry Degree programme builds upon existing best practice. By this programme, the student will graduate with an enhanced academic record, ideally leading to a full time position with the host employer. This enhanced degree features all elements of a traditional degree but will additionally address the key skills identified by Industries in their sector.

The programme focuses on developing those skills in formulation which Industries have identified to being critical to driving innovation, productivity and growth. By partnering with universities and Industries, Polyskills Institute is helping to bridge the gap between university and Industry. This not only benefits Universities / Industries by producing a stronger talent pool, but also helps incoming talent by equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to secure a high value graduate position.
